Today is European Neighbours Day and to celebrate the occasion Iain was invited along to see what Grange School in association with Manor Residents Association and Housing Hartlepool were up to.
The early events took place in Grange School where the organisers and teaching staff had a range of activities for the pupils to take part in. The activities were all based around getting to know the world we live in and included flag making, foods of the world and Iain’s personal favourite which involved guessing the country of football shirts and then being able to pin it on a map. The children (and Iain) were making great attempts at guessing the football shirts but I bet by the end of the world cup they will know every single one.
Later in the day there will be a Barbeque, competitions and an appearance by Hartlepool favourites Ruff Diamonds. Everyone is most welcome to come and join in the fun.
Neighbours' Day is an event which occurs every year in the last week of May. Any city or town or social housing organization is welcome to participate in Neighbours' Day by promoting the event with the residents using all the communication means at their disposal. It is then up to each resident or group of residents to organise their own party.
Through this exchange among residents, sharing experiences and good practices, this event gives to citizens the opportunity to interact and to join in the making an ever closer and more human European community
